James 5:14-15 states:
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the PRAYER of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. (NKJV)
PRAYER…singular.
Not PRAYERS…plural.
One prayer alone, when prayed in faith, is all it takes.
Oh, and the “sick” and “forgiveness” part is all in the same redemption, and received in the same way. One doesn’t have to BEG God for forgiveness, nor does he have to BEG God for healing. The price for both has already been paid. Jesus declared at the very moment when the complete price had been paid: “IT IS FINISHED.”
Many times when a multitude of people are recruited to pray for a need, there will be prayers going up spoken in doubt and unbelief, which do more harm than good. Yes, we could actually be speaking death over a person in the guise of prayer. If we have been asked to pray for a need, we have to make very sure we are speaking words of LIFE…HEALING, PROSPERITY, and DELIVERANCE in accordance with what the Word has already promised, and what Jesus has already provided. When we resort to begging, and laying the blame for unanswered needs on HIM Who has already provided the answer, it is showing unbelief.
“Lord, I believe, help my unbelief!”
